On Jan. 11, the eve of the 8th anniversary of Haiti’s 2010 earthquake, President Donald Trump called Haiti a “shithole” country, along with El Salvador and African nations. He continues racist and anti-immigrant policies and provocations.
Despite rain, on May 19, Haitians, Africans, and Latin Americans from seven states converged on Washington, DC, commemorating Haitian Flag Day and Malcolm X’s birthday anniversary, demanding an agenda of resistance. We joined with FANM and Veye Yo in Miami, the School Bus Drivers' Union, New England Human Rights Organization, and the Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti in Boston, the Mapou Foundation and Konbit Lakay in Washington, DC, and many others, to make our voices heard.
The 1804 Movement for All Immigrants has now organized two successful rallies on Jan. 19 and May 19, 2018. We need funding to continue our mobilization against racism and in defense of hard-working immigrants.
